Letter to the editor: Don’t be fooled by ‘climate change’

"Entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed. Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of 'eco-refugees'. Governments have a ten year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control. Ocean levels will rise by up to three feet, enough to cover the Maldives and other flat island nations. Coastal regions will be inundated. Estimates are it will cost the United States at least $100 billion to protect its East Coast from 'ecological refugees'. Shifting climate patterns would bring back 1930's dust bowl conditions to Canadian and U.S. wheatlands. The most conservative scientific estimate is that the Earth's temperature will rise from 1 to 7 degrees in the next 30 years."

Are these the words of the Democrat Party's new eco-darling, the clueless millennial named Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? They certainly could be, but they're not. Maybe these words of wisdom come from the left's other darling, the arm-waving marionette from Texas, Beto O'Rourke. Again, they could be, but no. These are out of a 1989 AP story quoting a global warming alarmist from the United Nations. Thirty years ago. None of it happened. And yet, yesterday's global warming alarmists have morphed into today's climate change alarmists. Ocasio-Cortez and O'Rourke have said that the world will come to an end in 12 years (11 years, nine months now) if we don't enforce the Democrats’ latest attempt to ruin our country, the Green New Deal.

Of course, if we had a legitimate press in this country, someone might have pointed out that none of the previous dire predictions came true, while challenging the claims made by the Cortezes of the world. But we don't. Instead we have a gaggle of empty suits and empty skirts with worthless journalism degrees who've been indoctrinated with left-wing drivel by our universities. Sure, they love to investigate and challenge and “fact check,” but only if their target has an “R” next to his/her name. The other side, well, they're the home team. They go unchallenged.

The press just went along when the left decided that “global warming” was losing its panache, coming up with a better term to advance its scam, “climate change,” which works for any weather condition. Warmer than normal? Must be climate change. Colder than normal? There you go, it's climate change. Drier than normal? It's that dreaded climate change again. Wetter than normal. Needless to say, it's climate change. Storms? You get the point. And of course, it's all caused by man, mostly by us Americans, overwhelmingly by those evil Republican capitalists. Don't be fooled people!
