The Jamestown Knights of Columbus sponsored a blood drive with Vitalant on March 12-13 which helped collect 106 units of blood products for patients in need.

There were 115 people who volunteered to donate blood, and 85 individuals were able to donate at the drive.. Twenty-one donors gave Power Red Cells (2RBC), which collects two units of red blood cells while returning platelets, plasma and a saline solution to the donor. Two people were first-time volunteers.

Vitalant expressed its gratitude to Dean Haas, who coordinated the drive, and the KCs, which sponsored the blood drive, as well as Greg Schweitzer and Kim Casey, who assisted the day of the drive.

Vitalant strives to keep a five-day supply of every blood type on the shelf at all times to be able to meet the needs of patients across the region. Vitalant is the only blood provider to nearly 70 hospitals across the region.
