The Lisbon Opera House's No Name Players will soon stage their 24th production. "Belle of Bisbee" is a melodrama written by Tim Kelly that will be presented Oct. 13 through 16. The action takes place in the west prior to 1900. The hero, Tom Good, is a common miner who intends to save the Bisbee, Ariz., school because he is in love with the schoolmarm, Belle Wallaby. The plot gets complicated with the appearance of "depraved skunk in human form" Pinkham Mudstone III who "knows what no one else knows." In addition to the play, there will be a group sing-along of old time songs as well as some extra entertainment.
The Sunday performances begins at 2:30 p.m. The other three days are evening performances that begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday's main floor seats are already sold out but there are still tickets available for the other three performances and limited premium gallery seating is available for all four performances. The Lisbon Opera House Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to preserve and rehabilitate the Lisbon opera house building that was constructed in 1889 at 413 Main Street in Lisbon and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Proceeds of the play will help pay for the new roof that has just been installed on the building.
