LOS ANGELES - The surprise theatrical hit " Kingsman: The Secret Service ," a spy film that opened back in February but kept a steady beat at the box office and has now grossed more than $128 million, easily topped the national home video sales charts for the week ending June 14.

The 20th Century  Fox release bumped Paramount's "The  SpongeBob  Movie: Sponge Out of Water" from the top spot on both the Nielsen VideoScan overall disc chart, which tracks combined Blu-ray Disc and DVD sales, and Nielsen's Blu-ray Disc-only chart.

" SpongeBob " settled in at No. 2 but according to Nielsen data only sold about one-third as many discs as " Kingsman ," which is loosely based on the popular comic book "The  Secret Service " and was directed by  Matthew Vaughn .

" Kingsman " generated 51% of its total unit sales from Blu-ray, according to Nielsen, compared to 36% for " SpongeBob ," down from 44% in the animated comedy's first week in stores. Accordingly, " SpongeBob " slipped to No. 3 on the Blu-ray Disc chart, behind Warner's " American Sniper ," which on the overall disc chart was No. 3. Blu-ray Disc accounted for 40% of total unit sales for " American Sniper " during the controversial action film's fourth week of availability.

Another new release, "The DUFF," from Lionsgate, debuted at No. 4 on the overall disc sales chart and No. 6 on the Blu-ray Disc chart. The high school comedy, an ugly duckling story that stars  Mae Whitman  as the girl unfortunately designated as the "Designated Ugly Fat Friend" by her peers, earned $34 million in U.S. theaters. The film only generated 25% of its total unit sales from Blu-ray Disc.
