JSSP Blood Drive

St. Paul's United Methodist Church hosted a blood drive with Vitalant on Oct. 12 which collected 46 units of blood products for patients in need.

Forty-five individuals volunteered to donate blood, and 41 individuals were able to donate at the drive.. Seven donors gave Power Red Cells (2RBC), which collects two units of red blood cells while returning platelets, plasma and a saline solution to the donor. One person volunteered for the first time.

Vitalant expressed its gratitude to Bonnie Ostenson, who coordinated the drive, and St. Paul’s Methodist Church which sponsored the blood drive, as well as others who assisted the day of the drive: Sherry McGuire, Ada DeBolt, Julie Wayne, Brenda Heintzelman, Carlla Maki, Al Aman, Allen Ostenson and Elayne Patzner.

Vitalant strives to keep a five-day supply of every blood type on the shelf at all times to be able to meet the needs of patients across the region. Vitalant is the only blood provider to nearly 70 hospitals across the region.
