Jud man accused of breaking into home

Bail was set at $100,000 on Wednesday for a 68-year-old man from Jud, N.D., charged with gross sexual imposition in connection with an incident Monday.

Police allege that Gordon Dale Schlenker broke into a Fargo townhome, opening a locked bedroom with a screwdriver before fondling the woman who lives there. He told police he was carrying a wooden bat to protect himself.

According to court records, Schlenker claims the 41-year-old woman, who he said he's known for four years after meeting at MeritCare, scammed him out of more than $300,000. He co-signed on the loan for her townhome, he told police.

Officers allege Schlenker said he got mad when he found out there were nude photos of the woman on a website and that she had sex with and gave his money to other men, according to charges filed in Cass County District Court.

Schlenker made an initial court appearance on Wednesday. In addition to the sex charge, he faces a felony count of interfering with an emergency call. Police said he knocked a phone out of the woman's hand as she tried to call 911.
