Minot man dies in two-vehicle crash

A two-vehicle crash at 8:33 p.m. Wednesday resulted in one death, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Joel K. Little, 34, Minot, was killed after the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban he was a passenger in ran into the back end of a 1997 Freightliner semitrailer on U.S. Highway 281 South, about 4 miles south of Edgeley.

According to the patrol, Jason Tolbert, 38, Minot, was driving the Chevrolet south on U.S. 281 South when he ran into the back end of a flatbed trailer being pulled by a Freightliner semi driven by Darrell Schrum, 54, Ellendale.

The patrol said Tolbert and Little were not wearing seat belts and both were injured. Tolbert and Little were transported by Edgeley Ambulance to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center. Little was taken by Life Flight air ambulance to Sanford Health in Fargo. Little died on Thursday.

The patrol said alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.

It was not known if Schrum was wearing a seat belt and he was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The LaMoure County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene.
