JRCC inmate charged with assault on JRCC staff

A 24-year-old Jamestown man currently serving time at the James River Correctional Center in Jamestown is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly assaulted three correctional staff members. Erik LaRocque was charged with simple assault and two counts of contact by bodily fluid or excrement Wednesday in Southeast District Court in Jamestown. All three charges are Class C felonies. Court documents say LaRocque assaulted a correctional officer by allegedly biting and punching the man on Sept. 1. LaRocque also allegedly spit blood on two other correctional officers while they were in the process of putting LaRocque in restraints. LaRocque is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 25 for his initial court appearance on these charges. The maximum penalty for a Class C felony is five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
