Man dies in crash near Walhalla, ND

The driver in a late Friday crash near Walhalla, N.D., that killed a passenger was cited with a DUI, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Matthew Webster, 33, Walhalla, N.D., was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, the patrol said.

The crash occurred at 11:45 p.m. when Heinrich Penner Fehr, 31, Walhalla, N.D., was driving a 2002 Chevrolet K1500 pickup east on 105th Street Northeast, a gravel road approximately 5 miles west of Walhalla. Fehr failed to negotiate a right-hand curve at the intersection of 121st Avenue and 105th Street Northeast, when the truck crossed the road into the ditch and overturned.

Fehr was transported by Cavalier Ambulance to Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier with injuries.

Pembina County and Cavalier County sheriff’s offices and Walhalla Fire Department also responded to the scene.
