An 81-year-old Georgia man died after two pickup trucks crashed head on north of Dickinson Thursday morning, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The patrol said a 63-year-old Manning, N.D., man was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck south on N.D. Highway 22 about 12 miles north of Dickinson.
A 69-year-old Dickinson man was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck north on Highway 22 enroute to Killdeer from Dickinson when the driver of the northbound pickup truck lost control on icy roads, the vehicle went into the southbound lane and struck the southbound pickup truck.
The patrol said the occupants of both trucks had to be extricated. The 81-year-old man from East Point, Ga., was declared dead at CHI St. Alexius Health in Dickinson after being transported by Dickinson Ambulance Service. The Dickinson man was transported to CHI St. Alexius Health in Dickinson for treatment of injuries.
The Manning man was also transported to CHI St. Alexius Health in Dickinson for treatment of injuries and later airlifted to CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck.
The patrol is investigating the crash.
The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Killdeer Police Department and Dickinson Fire and Rescue Department also responded to the scene.
