A 30-year-old Forest River, N.D., woman died Monday in a Walsh County crash, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 7:40 a.m. when a 2014 Dodge Durango traveling north on 150th Avenue Northeast was approximately 1 mile south of Minto, N.D., when the vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch. The Dodge traveled over the Forest River bank and overturned, breaking through the ice, coming to rest upside down and partially submerged in the river, the patrol said.
The driver died at the scene, the patrol said. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.
An airbag was deployed. The report did not state if the woman was wearing a seat belt.
The patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
Valley Ambulance & Rescue Service, Walsh County Sheriff's Office and Minto Fire & Rescue also responded to the scene.
