The North Dakota Highway Patrol on Saturday released the names of two drivers involved in a fatal two-vehicle crash on Friday in Walsh County.

Gerard Albin Dahl, 75, Park River, N.D., died at the scene of the 10 a.m. crash Friday, when the 2016 Ford F250 he was driving west on N.D. Highway 17 attempted a left turn onto N.D. Highway 32, about 6 miles west of Park River, the patrol said. The Ford crossed in front of an eastbound 1996 Peterbilt truck that struck the Ford on the passenger side.

Dahl was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

James Oliver Gustafson, 55, Adams, N.D., the driver of the Peterbilt, was transported by Park River EMS to First Care Health Center in Park River for treatment of injuries. He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

The Walsh County Sheriff’s Office and Park River Fire & Rescue also responded to the scene.
