MINOT, N.D. — Three people are dead following a head-on crash where one vehicle caught fire Monday on Highway 23 southwest of Minot.
A 78-year-old Douglas, N.D., man, as well as a 28-year-old man and a 27-year-old female from Parshall, N.D., died in the July 15 crash about 14 miles south and four miles west of Minot. A juvenile in a child safety seat from Parshall had minor injuries, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.
The Highway Patrol says the Douglas man was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Highway 23 shortly past 12:30 p.m. when it crossed into the eastbound lane. The pickup struck a 2017 Suburban carrying three people inside head-on. The crash sent the pickup off the road while the Suburban came to rest on its passenger side in the south ditch before being fully engulfed in flames, the Highway Patrol said.
