Two drivers were injured in a two-car crash Friday in Mckenzie County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 1:50 p.m., when a 2001 Honda Civic that was northbound on U.S. Highway 85 attempted a U-turn into the southbound lane about 5 miiles south of Watford City, N.D., the patrol said. The Honda failed to yield to a northbound 2010 Pontiac G6 and was struck by the car on the left side, sending both cars into the ditch.
The Pontiac driver, Alyssa Nicole Helstad, 20, Crosby, N.D., and the Honda driver, Rachel May Crain, 21, Killdeer, N.D., were injured and transported by McKenzie County Ambulance Service to McKenzie County Healthcare System in Watford City. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and airbags were deployed in each car.
Crain was cited for making an improper turn, the patrol said.
McKenzie County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
