Woman dies after crashing her motorcycle in Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS -- Officers have identified a Grand Forks woman who died after crashing her motorcycle Wednesday evening in the city..

In the crash, 39-year-old Renee Lillehaugen lost control of her 2000 Harley Davidson just before 8 p.m., according to a news release. The motorcycle was eastbound on DeMers Avenue when it hit the curb and then a traffic pole, the release said.

Emergency responders transported Lillehaugen to Altru Hospital, where she died of her injuries, the release said.

It appeared Lillehaugen was not wearing a helmet, Police Sgt. Douglas Wright said. It's unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, he said.

The crash shut down traffic for about two hours.
