Pedestrian fatally struck by train near downtown Fargo
FARGO — A person is dead after being hit by a train near downtown Fargo along the flooded Red River, Thursday evening, April 25.
Emergency crews responded to the scene about a quarter mile east of the railroad overpass at Second Street North around 6:35 p.m.
Police set up yellow tape around the train cars at the scene where the person's body was found. About an hour after the accident was reported, the body was still on the tracks under the rail cars. The city ambulance crew had a stretcher out along Second Street North, but returned without a person.
The stopped train blocked the road where the railroad tracks cross North Broadway and Fourth Street North until around 9 p.m.
