One man dead after accident near Montpelier
An 80-year-old Montpelier man is dead after an accident near that city Monday, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on N.D. Highway 46 about 6 miles south of Montpelier at 6:30 p.,m.
The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of relatives.
The Montpelier man was traveling eastbound on Highway 46 in 1983 Jeep when it was struck from behind by a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Damon Smith of Litchville, N.D. Both vehicles entered the ditch with the Jeep rolling. The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. Smith was transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for treatment before being released.
The accident remains under investigation.
