PARKSTON, S.D. — The 15-year-old girl killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash southwest of Parkston last week has been identified.
Taylor Thuringer, of Parkston, was driving a pickup truck Thursday afternoon, Aug. 15, when she swerved to avoid a mud hole on 409th Avenue, 1 mile southwest of Parkston, or about 25 miles south of Mitchell. The truck went into the ditch, rolled several times and caught fire, according to the Department of Public Safety preliminary investigation.
Thuringer died at the scene of the crash. Three passengers, ages 14 to 16, also sustained life-threatening injuries. The passengers were not wearing seatbelts.
