NEW TOWN, N.D. — A 28-year-old man from Williston was killed in a crash involving two semis Monday evening, Dec. 30.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2017 International semi truck and trailer was traveling south at 6 p.m. on Highway 1804 about 15 miles north of New Town, as was a 2012 Peterbilt semi truck and trailer driven by Wesley Soper, 52, of Surrey.
Soper pulled into a truck pullout lane and started to make a U-turn to go back north after missing a turn, the highway patrol said. Soper’s semi-truck and trailer were facing east and blocking the southbound lane when it was struck by the International.
The International's driver was pronounced dead on scene. The crash remains under investigation, and the name of the deceased will be released pending notification of family.
