GRAND FORKS — A 2012 Chevy Equinox was hit by an eastbound BNSF train when it drove through a railroad crossing arm on South 42nd Street in Grand Forks a little before 11 a.m. Sunday morning, Jan. 12.

The driver, 87-year-old Theresa Knutson, of Grand Forks, was transported to Altru hospital, though her injuries did not appear to be serious, according to Grand Forks police.

The BNSF train was traveling eastbound at approximately 10 mph on the north set of tracks when it made contact with Knutson’s vehicle.

The driver will be cited for failure to obey railroad crossing.
