HETTINGER, N.D. — A man suspected of driving under the influence crashed into a squad car in rural Adams County on Tuesday, July 7.
A trooper was conducting a traffic stop along U.S. Highway 12 near Hettinger, when a Kia traveling west struck his patrol car on the driver's side, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol news release.
No one was in the patrol car, and no injuries were reported.
The driver, 37-year-old Chad Wanna, exited the Kia after hitting the patrol car and began running into a nearby ditch, the patrol said.
The officer arrested Wanna on suspicion of DUI, driving under suspension and leaving the scene of a crash. North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
