BISMARCK — A Bismarck police officer was cited Wednesday night, Feb. 24, after striking a pedestrian with his patrol car.

The incident occurred at around 9 p.m., according to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Officer Collin Schlect, 24, was responding to a call that had been broadcast over police radio in his vehicle, a 2019 Ford Explorer, according to the news release. Schlect was exiting a parking lot when he struck Marlo Hunt-Beaubrun, 44, of Bismarck, who was walking in the lighted, marked crosswalk.

Hunt-Beaubrun was taken to Sanford Medical Center by Metro Area Ambulance for minor injuries. Schlect was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to the release.

The crash is under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
