A Napoleon, N.D., man was cited for DUI and distracted driving after a crash involving a Peterbilt truck-tractor carrying cattle on Thursday, Feb. 25, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The patrol said the crash happened at 2:30 p.m.

Evan Gross, 30, was driving the 2014 Peterbilt truck-tractor east from Kist Livestock Auction, heading to Napoleon, on Memorial Highway (Interstate 94B). The truck was traveling under 15 mph on the cloverleaf on-ramp to Expressway (I-194) northbound. The front left tire drove off the roadway to the left, the patrol said, and the truck rolled onto its left side. The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.

The truck was loaded with approximately 111 cattle. Several cattle escaped from the trailer when the truck came to rest. Kist Livestock assisted in recovering the escaped cattle.

Gross was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, the patrol said.
