A 10-year-old Ellendale, N.D., boy was injured Friday, July 23, when he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Ellendale.
The patrol said the accident happened at 7:17 p.m. on Third Street and Second Avenue South.
The boy was riding a bicycle south on Second Avenue South and entered the intersection with Third Street South at the same time as a Dodge Intrepid, which was eastbound on Third Street.
The Dodge Intrepid driven by a 64-year-old Ellendale man struck the boy on the bicycle, and the boy landed on the hood of the Dodge and then went to the ground.
The boy was transported by Ellendale Ambulance to Aberdeen, South Dakota, to be treated for injuries sustained from the crash.
The name of the driver of the 2004 Dodge was not immediately released. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
Also responding to the accident were Ellendale Police Department, Dickey County Sheriff’s Department, Ellendale Ambulance and Ellendale Fire Department.
The crash is under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
