The Alzheimer’s Association of Minnesota and North Dakota and The North Dakota Dementia Care Services Project will present a free class for caregivers called “Making Connections with People with Dementia.”
The class will be from 11 a.m. to noon July 9 at the James River Senior Center, 419 5th St. NE in Jamestown.
Simple things can make all the difference in the world, turning bad days into good ones. These simple things are the most valuable tools that people have to soothe, comfort and bring joy to people with dementia, the Alzheimer’s Association said. More than activities, “Making Connections” places the focus on every event, encounter or exchange that staff, volunteers, relatives and visitors have with people with dementia. Participants will define the physical, social and cultural environment and look at how those are changing in residential care. This class can also be adapted for at home caregiving.
CEUs are available for professionals. Anyone with questions may contact Beth Olson, regional care consultant, at 701-952-0131.
