Aneta hosting festival

Aneta, N.D., is celebrating its 50th annual turkey barbecue summer festival. The festival is set for June 18-20 with the barbecue itself planned for 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 19.

Aneta, N.D., is celebrating its 50th annual turkey barbecue summer festival. The festival is set for June 18-20 with the barbecue itself planned for 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 19.

The festival begins with a talent show in the auditorium at 7:30 p.m. June 18. If interested in entering, call 701-326-4554. There's also Pat's Buffet from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the American Legion Club and a dance with live music at the Whitetail Bar from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Saturday begins with a pancake breakfast at Sundahl Lutheran Church from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Enjoy food at the WELCA lunch stand in the auditorium basement from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Then from noon to 8 p.m. there's the annual arts and crafts show at the Aneta Pavilion and park. After that, there will be a parade along Main Street at 3 p.m. Also available on Saturday are inflatables, rides and games uptown.

The 50th annual turkey barbecue highlights Saturday's events. The barbecue runs 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Aneta City Park. Music will be provided by the Chuck Gust Band and others. More than 300 turkeys will be roasting over the coals in the city park. Tickets are available at the ticket booth in the southeast section of the park.

The Dixie Cups will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. There's also dancing to live music at the Whitetail Bar from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Plus, the Chuck Gust Band will be at the American Legion Club from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

At 10 a.m. Sunday will be the All Faith Service in the Aneta City Park.
