GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- Authorities believe they've nabbed members of a ring that stole business checks from around North Dakota and cashed them.

Grand Forks Detective Mike Flannery says the group stole more than $50,000 and it may be behind smiliar crimes in Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Police say two men were caught trying to cash checks in Bismarck earlier this month and four others were detained. Police had been on the lookout for them after crimes in Fargo, West Fargo and Grand Forks in September.

Authorities say least four members of the ring got away. They don't know how big the operation is.

The suspects are believed to be illegal immigrants from Mexico or Honduras. Authorities say they targeted businesses that employ Hispanic workers.
