TRENTON, N.D. (AP) -- Authorities say bones found south of here might be human, but they have no idea hold old they are.

Williams County Sheriff's Capt. Robert Stancel said the bones do not make up a complete skeleton.

"There was no skull, no teeth for dental history, and no clothing or jewelry," he said. "It will need further investigation. The next step is to take these to the state medical examiner's office. If we need to, we will take these to an archaeologist."

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation are part of the investigation.
