Bad fuel affects hundreds of Bismarck-area drivers

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) -- Hundreds of vehicles in Bismarck-Mandan have been serviced so far after their drivers filled up with bad gasoline that came from the local Tesoro oil refinery.

One dealership says it's booked through the rest of the week, siphoning the bad gas from vehicles. Service managers say draining the fuel and putting in good gas seems to be fixing the problems motorists have been having with sputtering or stalling engines.

Tesoro on Monday said it was wrapping up efforts to pump out and replace the bad gas at service stations in the metro area. Tesoro said earlier that the bad gas was not up to specifications. The company did not say how much bad fuel was made or how it happened.
