BISMARCK (AP) -- The U.S. Department of Labor has extended the deadline residents of several counties affected by flooding in North Dakota can apply for disaster unemployment assistance.

Individuals who were living or working in an affected area at the time of the flooding and whose employment or self-employment was lost or interrupted due to flooding may be eligible for Disaster Unemployment Assistance.

Residents of Burleigh and Ward counties can now apply through Aug. 26; McHenry, Morton and Renville county residents have until Aug. 31 to apply for assistance; and the deadline for Spirit Lake Nation and Barnes, Ramsey, and Richland counties has been set for Sept. 14.
