Two local high school seniors were selected to receive $1,000 each from the Spec. Paul A. Beyer Memorial Scholarship fund for 2014. The scholarship recipients are Cassie Ost and Nicholas Fettig.
Ost is the daughter of Lon and Sally Ost, and she plans on attending Bismarck State College in the fall for graphic design.
Fettig is the son of Dwight and Peggy Fettig, and he plans on attending the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., to study diesel mechanics.
Both students were chosen because of their work ethic and determination to continue their education.
2014 marks the 8th anniversary of Beyer’s death. Beyer was killed in action while serving with the 101st Airborne near Baghdad, Iraq. This scholarship was created to honor Beyer and to serve as a reminder to all of the sacrifices made each and every day by U.S. servicemen and women.
The Spec. Paul A. Beyer Memorial Scholarship is administered by the Jamestown Public School Foundation/Dollars for Scholars.
