A Bismarck teenager died Saturday after the vehicle she was riding in rolled and hit two trees, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said Sunday.
The crash happened at 8:45 p.m. Saturday 4 miles south of Menoken, N.D., on a dirt road. Five girls, including the driver, were in the vehicle, the patrol said.
The patrol said Kaydee Heaton, 15, was the driver of a 2006 Mercury Mariner that was eastbound on Lincoln Road south of Menoken when she lost control. The vehicle overturned, entered the south ditch, became airborne, struck two trees and came to rest on its passenger side.
Two passengers, Taryn Small, 14, and Lisa Burdolski, 14, were ejected from the vehicle. Burdolski was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol said. The patrol said Small and Burdolski's seat belt use were not known.
Wearing seat belts and injured were Heaton and two other passengers, Desirae Schmaltz, 14, Bismarck, and Amber Braun, 14, Dickinson, N.D. Heaton, Schmaltz, Braun and Small were transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.
