Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., has introduced the Rural Mobility and Access for America Act, bipartisan legislation that would require a fair distribution of highway funds to rural states.

The bill is important to states like North Dakota that require infrastructure upgrades to take full advantage of the significant energy potential, Conrad said in a statement.

Rural states would have flexibility to use the federal dollars for a variety of purposes, including road construction, rehabilitation, resurfacing and transit projects.

Conrad is joined on the bill by Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo.
