GRAND FORKS (AP) -- A Grand Forks couple say their daughter, who teaches at a Fort Hood elementary school, told them the school was locked down after the shooting rampage at the Texas Army base but no one at the school was hurt.
Katie Haas told her parents she was just dismissing her class of 4-year-olds when news of the shootings came over the public address system. Haas said the students and parents who had come to get them were herded back into the school and locked in their classrooms for about four hours.
Peter and Beth Bouley say they have been using instant messaging and phones to contact their daughter.
Her husband, Capt. Brian Haas, a native of the southern North Dakota town of Venturia, is on duty in Iraq.
Beth Bouley says she worries about her son-in-law in Iraq and her son, Grant, in Afghanistan. She said, "the last thing we thought we had to worry about was Katie at Fort Hood.'
