The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the people involved in a fatal crash Friday afternoon near Carrington, N.D.
The patrol said Stephanie Theis, 22, Carrington, was driving a 1984 Peterbilt semi and trailer around 2:15 p.m. Friday. She was traveling eastbound along N.D. Highway 200 about three miles east of Carrington, and slowed to turn north onto a gravel township road.
The semi turned onto the westbound driving lane of a 1982 Dodge pickup truck driven by William Trecker Jr., 49, Carrington. The pickup was unable to stop, the patrol said. The crash occurred on the westbound lane of the gravel road intersection.
The semi came to rest in the ditch. The pickup came to rest on the roadway in the intersection, the patrol said. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage.
Trecker died as a result of the crash. Theis was treated for injuries at Carrington Health Center and released. Neither wore seat belts.
