VICTORVILLE, Calif. — The body of a missing Eagle Butte man was found in California on July 22.
A pair of Victorville residents found the remains of T.J. Shan Looking Horse, 30, in a dirt field beside their home, according to a Victor Valley News article. Looking Horse had been missing since July 15, according to a post on his mother Gladys Looking Horse’s Facebook page.
Authorities are investigating Looking Horse’s death. The cause of death is unknown at this time, according to Victor Valley News.
The Facebook post noted that Looking Horse was dropped off at a Greyhound bus station in Victorville on July 15 with a boarding pass to return home to the Cheyenne River Reservation. According to his mother’s Facebook post, her son was unable to secure a seat on the bus due to overbooking.
Later that day, Looking Horse borrowed a cellphone, which he used to contact his mother and aunt, letting both women know about his situation.
Looking Horse did not have a phone, identification card or money, and had difficulty communicating due to a traumatic brain injury, according to his mother’s post.
A GoFundMe page has been setup to help Looking Horse’s family get his body home.
