JPD arrests suspect after foot pursuit
The Jamestown Police Department, assisted by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department and a cooperative citizen, apprehended a man wanted on city and county warrants Tuesday after a foot pursuit, according to Maj. Justin Blinsky, assistant police chief.
Kyle Lee Wear, 30, Jamestown, was observed at the bottom of Mill Hill by an off-duty police officer at about 3:10 p.m. That officer called other officers who attempted to apprehend Wear.
Blinsky said a three-block foot pursuit ended with taking Wear into custody in the 1500 block of 5th Avenue behind Lloyd’s Motors.
Wear was taken into custody under bench warrants from Jamestown Municipal Court and Southeast District Court as well as suspicion of preventing arrest and suspicion of failure to halt.
He is in custody in the Stutsman County Correctional Center.
Blinsky said the pursuit was assisted by deputies of the sheriff’s office as well as an unidentified citizen who honked the horn on his vehicle and pointed to where the suspect was located at the end of the pursuit.
“We appreciate their assistance,” Blinsky said.
