Search continues for Guthmiller

The Jamestown Police Department is continuing efforts to apprehend a man it believes to be armed with a firearm and potentially dangerous, according to Maj. Justin Blinsky, assistant chief of police for Jamestown.

The suspect is identified as Levi Shawn Guthmiller, 25, Jamestown. He is described as 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, with red hair and last seen wearing a dark jacket, white hoodie and blue jeans.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, a Jamestown police officer attempted to stop a vehicle in northeast Jamestown driven by a suspect believed to be wanted on felony warrants. The suspect struck the patrol car with his vehicle before leaving the scene. The vehicle later slid off the roadway and became inoperable. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

The Jamestown Police Department issued a code red alert warning citizens that an armed suspect was fleeing officers in Jamestown and asking for the public’s help in locating him.

Blinsky said officers are continuing efforts to locate Guthmiller and the incident remains under investigation.
