Pursuit terminated southwest of Jamestown

A pursuit by law enforcement officers ended when it was determined speeds and road conditions posed safety concerns, according to Justin Blinsky, assistant chief of the Jamestown Police Department.

The incident began at 11:38 p.m. Tuesday when a Jamestown Police Department officer attempted to stop an SUV in 300 block of Business Loop west for a traffic infraction. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and traveled south out of Jamestown on U.S. Highway 281.

The pursuit continued on Highway 281 and Stutsman County gravel roads west of the highway at speeds of up to 100 mph until it was terminated at 12:13 a.m. Wednesday, Blinsky said.

The Police Department was assisted by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department and the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The incident remains under investigation, Blinsky said.
