A high-risk registered sex offender has changed his address in Jamestown, the Jamestown Police Department said Monday, Aug. 12.
Brandon Scott Schafer, 29, lives in the downstairs apartment at 2020 4th Ave. SW. He drives three vehicles: a red 2000 Ford Explorer, North Dakota license 433CCN; a maroon 1997 Ford Mustang, North Dakota license 011BRR, and a maroon 2001 Chevy Silverado, North Dakota license 680CNF.
Schafer is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 140 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair. He has been assigned a high-risk assessment by the North Dakota risk level committee, Office of the Attorney General.
Schafer was convicted in 2012 in Ransom County District Court in North Dakota of luring minor by computer and gross sexual imposition. Authorities said he had sexually explicit conversations with two girls, ages 13 and 14, on Facebook and had sexual contact with one the 13-year-old girl.
Schafer is currently on probation with North Dakota Parole and Probation. He is not wanted by law enforcement.
The notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender. Attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords or employers will be turned over for prosecution.
