Man jumps from sign to roof, surrenders
FARGO — A 27-year-old man is in police custody after climbing a sign at a south Fargo hotel and jumping onto the roof.
Police were called to the Grand Inn at 3402 14th Ave. S. at about 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, on a report of a man who was harassing patrons.
The man climbed the hotel's sign and then got onto the roof before entering the hotel attic through a roof vent, police said. By noon, police had surrounded the hotel.
Police used a fire truck ladder to reach the roof and spoke to the man with weapons drawn. Authorities said they believed the man had a knife. A police drone was also used to view the scene.
The man surrendered to authorities at about 12:40 p.m. He was identified as Michael Edward Wayne Barido, with no permanent address, according to police.
Barido will be arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass and criminal mischief after he's medically cleared at a local hospital, police said.
