A man with ties to the Jamestown and Fargo area but no physical address is in custody after an assault on a Jamestown Police Department officer Saturday night.
Christopher Perman, 28, faces charges of failure to halt, disorderly conduct, preventing arrest and assault on a peace officer. He is being held in the Stutsman County Correctional Center pending formal charges.
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious male lurking in the residential area of 1000 block of Thomas Avenue Northeast at 11:12 p.m. Saturday.
Officers located a man matching the description of the suspect in the parking lot of Casey's General Store North. The suspect refused to take his hands out of his pockets when ordered and fled into the IDK Bar & Grill where a pursuing officer attempted to take him into custody. A physical altercation followed in which an officer was assaulted before additional officers arrived and took Perman into custody.
Perman was treated for injuries and released from Jamestown Regional Medical Center before being transported to the Stutsman County Correctional Center.
The incident remains under investigation.
