A person who walked away from the North Dakota State Hospital is accused of the theft of two cars Friday afternoon, according to Benjamin Kennelly, sergeant with the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Kennelly said the person, who was not identified, was returned to the State Hospital.
According to Kennelly, the person stole a vehicle on the grounds of the State Hospital but it went off the road and became stuck near Spiritwood. The person then caught a ride to Jamestown and stole another vehicle which broke down on Interstate 94.
Kennelly said in both cases the keys were in the ignition of the vehicle and in one case the vehicle had been idling at the time it was taken.
