BELCOURT, N.D. — The family of a 34-year-old Fargo man reported missing in September says authorities are investigating his disappearance as a possible homicide.

Craig Melton, who was reported missing Sept. 19 after his roommate had not seen him in two days, was last seen in his car giving some men a ride to Belcourt, N.D., according to the Fargo Police Department.

It's still unclear who the men were or why the group was traveling to Belcourt, which is on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation nearly 200 miles northwest of Fargo.

Melton's car was found in a wooded area on the Turtle Mountain Reservation a few days ago, according to his mother, Paula Rodgers, who said investigators told her the dashboard and back seat had been ripped out.

One of a few men arrested Thursday provided information to authorities, Rodgers said. That led to a grid search Friday on a large section of property in Rolette County.
