DICKINSON, N.D. — A woman who claimed she was a victim of excessive force by Dickinson police has dropped her claim and pleaded guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct and resisting and officer.
Chelsey Borden changed her plea in the case on Monday, March 22.
Borden had filed a formal complaint alleging that an officer from the Dickinson Police Department used excessive force during her arrest following a fight Jan. 18, 2020, inside a Holiday Gas Station in Dickinson. She maintained her innocence and the allegations of excessive force until she and her attorney changed her plea to guilty in a case set for trial.
Dickinson Police Officer Chad Hopponen, the subject of the complaint, was cleared of wrongdoing in the excessive force investigation and with the plea change Borden will serve a two-year deferred imposition of sentence.
