Law enforcement across North Dakota will have extra patrols to enforce the state’s distracted driving law from April 1–30 for the national "U Drive. U Text. U Pay." campaign.
Nearly 300 citations were issued in North Dakota for distracted driving during the enforcement period in September 2020.
“Drive distraction-free and put yourself in the best position to arrive alive by using a do not disturb app to let friends and family know when you are driving,” said Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger.
Preliminary crash fatalities in 2021 are trending higher than previous years with 21 fatalities to date, making this campaign a part of the Vision Zero strategy to eliminate motor vehicle crash fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.
