Drag racing returns to Jamestown this weekend.

The Jamestown Drag Racing Association will be holding two days of races at the Jamestown airport this weekend with side-by-side, eighth-mile track racing.

Drivers will take to the track on Saturday and Sunday.

Time trials will be run from 9 a.m.-noon each day, with elimination races beginning at 1 p.m.

Last year, 168 cars ran during the event.

Glenn Christianson, president of the Jamestown Drag Racing Association, is expecting 120 cars on Saturday and upwards of 200 on Sunday.

They're expecting a crowd of nearly 700 on Saturday and around 1,000 on Sunday.

Along with the racing, Scott McVey and the Hooters top-alcohol funny car will be making an appearance. The funny car can run 250 mph plus on a quarter-mile track.
