CAVALIER, N.D. - A 50-year-old East Grand Forks man was killed Friday night when his motorcycle struck a deer in Pembina County.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the man was riding west with a passenger on County Road 9 between Cavalier and Walhalla at about 10:30 p.m. when his 2013 Harley Davidson struck a deer in the road, causing the motorcycle to fall and enter the ditch. Both the man and the passenger, a 47-year-old East Grand Forks woman, were thrown from the bike.
Both victims were taken by ambulance to Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier with serious injuries, according to the Patrol’s statement. The man was pronounced dead there, and the woman was transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Neither of the victims was wearing helmets, the Patrol said. Their names are being withheld pending notification of family members.
