Elks rally for win over Merchants

The Jamestown Elks took advantage of the Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants' bullpen on Wednesday night in Fargo, batting around in the sixth and seventh innings and turning a five-run deficit into an 8-6 victory.

Home runs from Jeff Nold and Jared Purdy and a two-run single from Josh Shaw helped the Merchants (18-7) build a 5-0 lead on Steve Hirchert. But the Merchatns would get just three hits off reliever Nolan Mitchell over six innings.

Wayne Hogan had three hits for the Elks as did Boya Quichocho while Matt Daul was 2-for-3 with two doubles to help lead the Elks for the win, handing Isaac Triebold (1-2) the loss.

The Merchants travel to Groton, S.D., on Sunday while the Elks (9-3) are in Fargo on Wednesday.
