WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) -- A family of four escaped unhurt early Tuesday after a semitrailer crashed into the side of their 20-foot camper about five miles north of Williston.
The Williston Herald reports that Shauna Cotten, her husband, James, and their two children were sleeping inside the trailer around 2:20 a.m. when she felt the trailer shift about 4 feet.
Cotten says her 9-year-old son was sleeping just inches from the impact. She says if the driver would have been a foot further, "he would have taken out my kid."
Cotten says that when she got up and looked out the window, she saw what looked like a dark-colored semi hauling double water tanks speed off. She says the damage may be beyond repair.
The Williams County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
